Boston weekend mini-sessions

So it's a little chilly here in NYC today and I started thinking about Fall and how much better it is in Boston than here. Brighter leaves, crisper air. Not a big difference, but something. What better way to enjoy it than coming up soon for a day of photo shoots?

I know a lot of my high school friends and extended family in the Boston-area have wanted me to come up soon to photograph their children. Here's a way to make the trip up worthwhile and also keep the costs affordable.

What I've done in the past is schedule families in 30-minute blocks throughout the day and provide everyone with a cd or online gallery of photos printable to 4"x6" at $50. If anyone wants larger prints, I give a discounted print price of $1 4x6, $5 5x7, $10 8x10. Everyone can bring their favorite toys & we can squeeze in a family shot if you're up for it.

If you are interested, let me know. I have a craft fair in NYC 10/10 but most other weekends are open. If enough people want it, I can add more dates. I'd also be up for doing some in home photo shoots (at my normal rate of $250) while I'm in town.

Mid-week photo availability!

Thanks to a fabulous new childcare arrangement, I'm now also available mid-week for photo shoots. Perfect for stay at home parents, vacations or just people like me whose evening & weekends are their primary work hours.

Tuesdays 9-2
Wednesdays 9-2

So pass the word to any friends & family who might be interested in my new hours. Of course I can schedule sessions for lots of other times too, just shoot me an email at info@kristinburnsbabyphoto.com or call 718-791-0536 for and we can figure out a time that works for all of us.

thanks,
Kristin

Monthly goals - September - updated mid-month

Am I the steamroller or the train?

August flew by! Finished up my contract with iVillage.com mid-month so now my days are free again. Ahhhhh.... More importantly we finally found a lovely babysitter for my daughter 2 mornings a week which has already made me much more work-centered during that time. I feel like since we're paying someone, I should REALLY be productive!

My friend Sara turned me on to Modish - and their monthly goal meetup. Sara is an amazing printmaker with a great Etsy shop if you're looking for beautiful textiles for your home. Who knew a dishtowel could be so cute? I figure if she's brave enough, I can try too.

This my first month trying it out. I'm a little nervous putting this out there since I'm a perfectionist and I hate the idea of not finishing everything in September. But between work, a new focus on this business, a baby & a husband in his first semester teaching, I'm going to cut myself some slack.

1. Get the word out!
- Submit application for Sunnyside Craft Fair (teaming up with another crafter)

- Post photo cards at some local businesses once they arrive (est. delivery 9/4) done
- Twitter daily at kburnsphoto done so far!

2. Turn that word into action!
- Book 3 new clients for September photo shoots  2 done
- Contact past clients about print ordering and testimonials

3. Plan ahead for a busy Fall!
- Schedule 1 Boston-area day of mini-sessions done but still not fully booked yet

- Research holiday card ideas started

4. Enhance my website!
- Upload online gallery done!!!! This was a big one

- Add testimonials/client reviews

Seems possible, but let me know if you guys have advice on keeping productive and creative while still chugging along. Hmm, I guess that makes me the train...

Christmas in September?

Wow! What a crazy busy summer it's been. It's unbelievable it's almost over - never mind that my daughter is turning 1 on 8/31!

Also unbelievable? It's time to start thinking about holiday cards. I am already booking sessions and realizing that November is going to be craziness. So I think a little incentive to book early is in order.

Contact me soon to set up a baby, child or family photo session during September and I'll knock off 10% of the booking fee.

I'll be designing my holiday card templates soon and posting some examples. I can't wait to personalize them with some of your favorite photos!
